During a comprehensive eye exam Dr. Cheek will check your visual acuity and determine your needs for vison correction. Furthermore he will also examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and visual system. Dilation may be necessary as your optometrist can directly see the blood vessels in a retinal exam, systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetic changes can be seem in an eye exam. During a routine eye exam, if you currently wear or want to wear contacts, your doctor performs a separate, additional exam to evaluate your eyes for contacts. It includes additional testing, additional time with the doctor, and thus there is an additional charge associated with the exam. Every pair of eyes is different, and there are many different kinds of contact lenses on the market to accommodate your particular needs.
